Too often, people get away with so much because today's society lacks the spine to call out wrongdoing. People wrongly conclude that being a kind human being and having a backbone are mutually exclusive. This is untrue. Before publishing this blog, we prayed about whether we needed to publicly expose a problematic person doing wrong to us. Others have witnessed this and have defended us without our knowledge and we thank you. We know who you are and we honor you for being bold.
Some of you out there have been eating from the wrong tree. There is a tree that produces fruit and one that produces nuts. Which are we supposed to judge by? We heard this verse as an answer as to whether we should publish this blog.

Fraud Alert? Let's make some things straight because with new levels come new devils, and this slander and character assassination has become wearisome. I’m calling out this woman who claims to be a Christian but is outright lying, gossiping, and being a mouthpiece for demons. She perpetuates the work of manifest destiny that tried to take our native identity away and her sources of disinformation are an indoctrinated, Muslim sympathizing anti-Semite and a Wiccan High priestess who we filed a cease and desist order against. We have not publicly rebuked these two accusers because they are not Believers. We expect this type of behavior and persecution from the world.
Her false accusations are addressed in blogs that have been public knowledge for years and are easily verified. I’m not seeking affirmation, nor do I need it. I am setting the record straight.
My full legal name is Joseph Rivera Israel RiverWind - I introduce myself as José when speaking with other Spanish speakers. Joseph is José in English. I was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. I was born José Rivera. The name Rivera means "RiverBend." Shortly before I entered the U.S. Army I had a feeling I would not see him alive again and I asked him to name me before I left. My grandfather, who taught me more than anyone about my indigenous heritage, gave me a new name - RiverWind aka AmaHura. It removed the "bend" and inserted the "wind"/Spirit into my identity. And my journey to find my own spiritual beliefs ensued. To honor him, I legally changed my name. Additionally, because I was living on the mainland with more English speakers at that point in my life, I opted for using the other colonizers' language for my name - Joseph. It is closer to the Hebrew version of my name, and although I didn't know of my Sephardic heritage at that time, it was a decision I don't regret. Ironically, I am criticized for switching from one colonizing language (Spanish) to another (English) concerning my first name even though Rivera is still part of my name and is clearly Spanish. Then criticised for embracing the [last] name my grandfather gave me shortly before he crossed over to the Spirit World.

My tribe requires documented proof to be a tribal member. Church records, birth certificates, census, or draft cards that say Indio/Mestizo/De Color. Please note: "Descendants of Puerto Rico's First Nation" is our tribe's old name. The Principal Chief, the Tribal Council, and I recently renamed it Arawak Taino Tribe of Puerto Rico, which we all agree on.

Claims Sephardic Jewish Heritage
In the short video Professor Shlomo : Director of the Center for Bnei Anusim Studies verifies and confirms the Sephardic lineage of Chief Joseph RiverWind.
I have never been self-appointed or a self-proclaimed Chief. I was appointed twice by the leadership of the Yucayekenos I belonged to, and the historical proof of that day is in the aforementioned blog. This accusor uses the dissenting voice of another Taino person from another tribal band that has nothing to do with my tribe. I'm not his chief.
Perhaps someone else is; he may or may not be enrolled - I don't know. Our tribe notes in our introductions that there are many Taino groups with their own autonomy. We do not speak for other tribes but only the Yucayeke we represent and belong to. And while I am known to many outside of my tribe, millions of people have Taino heritage. I am certainly not known to all of them.

Different tribes have different traditions for how a chief is made. In my tribe, people are made eligible through hereditary lines and chosen by a council. In my case, this is what happened. My grandfather was a Cacike (chief) in his community, and I was designated a Cacike (chief) by a council of leaders. They called me to attend a Taino gathering with thousands of my people as witnesses in Pennsylvania. Even though some Taino chiefs today have not demonstrated chief lineage, I have not made accusations against their chief status. I believe a tribe can choose their chief(s) according to their standards and ceremonial protocol.
I speak on behalf of my Yucayeke and not all Taino. It’s ridiculous to think that one person could speak for all of us. We number in the thousands upon thousands. That being said, I have been representing my people for over 30 years—long before TikTok was invented. So this person wants to drive hits to their TikTok, and you can see the motivation clearly with the free Palestine hashtag on the post. Enough said.
Boricua Taino Ahiya: This is my tribe’s private, indigenous language page, which has nearly 18K of my Taino people from various islands, Yucayeke groups, and our own tribal members who come to learn our ancestral Island Arawak language from two instructors: the Principal Chief Yukibo of the Arawak Tribe of Puerto Rico and me. I began this private group with the blessing of my principal chief. There are many Taino people who disagree with my politics and spiritual beliefs, but 18K of them can agree to learn our tribe's language from me.

More False Accusations by Nancy Sigurd Kindt
We fail to see what qualifications Nancy Kidnt has to determine tribal affairs and eligibility. In other words, stay out of our tribal business. My wife is an enrolled member of The Georgia Tribe of Eastern Cherokee, a state-recognized tribe, and she is a voting member of the National Congress of American Indians.

She is the appointed Ambassador at Large by the Executive Branch of her Tribal Government and Tribal Chairman and is in excellent standing with her tribe and community. She just returned from a council meeting with her chief a few days ago! Look at the picture of her holding their tribal flag while wearing the beaded Cherokee Ambassador sash. Look at the date when it was taken. It was taken around the same time frame as the slander was being spread, saying she is not an Ambassador and that she is not in good standing with her tribe.
Because of these ridiculous accusations against her identity and family history, Dr. Laralyn RiverWind's genealogy has been audited twice. Thus, including her enrollment application, that means three times her lineage has held up to those with all of the information. All investigations confirmed that she has documented Cherokee heritage.
Sometimes, confusion comes when people do not understand tribal politics. Federally recognized tribes are attempting to annihilate all state-recognized Cherokee tribes. State recognition is a natural precursor to federal recognition.
Additionally, adding more federally recognized tribes means a reduced budget for currently recognized tribes (along with concern over competitive casinos). Dr. Laralyn RiverWind has never claimed to be a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, Cherokee Nation, or United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians of Oklahoma. She has only ever been a tribal member of the Georgia Tribe of Eastern Cherokee, although she is eligible for enrollment in some other tribes.
Scripture tells us not to argue about genealogies, so we will not engage in that. We'll simply make this explanation and hopefully be done with it. Until now, we've tried to ignore the online tabloids and allegations about who we are that have easily duped many. We know our family history and who the Creator made us to be. Let your own discernment be the judge of how you view us.
