How do you stop the flames from the foxes tail from burning your Church, Fellowship, or Home Congregation down? Why a fox? it was an ancient warfare technique for spreading a fire quickly through a village. What we need is the spiritual rivers of living waters that will put out these fires before its too late.
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." Ephesians 4:2
When a church looks and acts like the world that it was "saved" from then we can find some juicy stories of congregational drama that would rival any prime time soap opera. What seems to be the biggest and best deterrent to squelching this murderer of souls wreaking havoc in fellowships and congregations is by shutting our mouths.
I use the word shutting because, for me, I am consciously telling my mouth to keep shut. I will continue to do so until it becomes a part of who I am. This is one of the thousands of steps in renewing your mind to the mind of the Messiah but it is critical to our walking in humility with The Creator and with our brothers and sisters. In many traditional native languages, there was no word for "I" or "me", it was "us" and "we". It makes walking in humility in today's society much harder when we have a word that focuses everything spoken after it on you.
One valuable First Nations lesson in humility that I have yet to master is don't interrupt one another when you speak. The Creator made you with two ears and one mouth, use them in that order. Listen more than you speak which gives honor to the person speaking because you are showing that you value what they say. Thinking about what they spoke before responding is honor and humility.
1 Peter 5:5 "In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, gird yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble."
Humility is part of your spiritual armor! It is like a belt that keeps up your pants and the minute you say or do something prideful, the belt loosens and your pants come off. That would be humbling, wouldn't it? How would it affect the other belt that you are wearing? The Belt of Truth?
Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does The Creator require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
When we walk humbly with The Creator then the natural overflow of that good medicine is going to pour out through you. Just like in First Nations prayers when we begin by saying" I come before you in a humble way..." To show honor is an act of humility. Walk in honor among one another, show it and live it just as Chief Corner Stone Yeshua lived it to show us how to walk out this Ancient Path. I promise that it will change your congregation or fellowship and the Holy Spirit will THEN be able to move in powerful ways among you like never before.
